Our Story
We started Certain Chance Creative because we love dressing up and creating. We met and bonded over our love for having fun with life, trying anything we wanted and being completely ourselves, which we have bought into our brand.
We are sometimes asked why we called our brand Certain Chance Creative and are usually stumped so we decided to actually sit down and write it out so we can let you know. It took us 3 days of heavy thought to come up with our name, originally wanting to start a marketing and creative design company. We love to take chances and know for certain we will at least try everything and be our best. We also like dice and wanted to use it in our logo haha. And also Certain Chance Creative has a nice ring to it and has triple c hahaha alliteration. But seriously we want to get across that there is CERTAIN CHANCE we will take the leap in trying anything we want and will, and to be fair I think we will discovery more about our name and its meaning as our business grows, follow us to find out as we do.
We both have backgrounds and passions in creative industries, Eliza running her own freelance photography business for over 4 years, working with many brands and companies, creatively direction and bringing their ideas to life, while Pearl has worked for an all Australian made swimwear company, learning everything to do with design, production and retail and now does graphic design freelance specialising in textile and fashion. Both have skills in marketing, design and fine art and knowledge and understanding over most creative mediums, even both working in an apparel print shop for some time (Hey Caleb at Yew print shop!). We look forward to trying new skills and hobbies that will further our knowledge and experience and are always learning to better ourselves in our creative endeavours, which we think is an important trait for us and our goals. You won’t see us slowing down anytime soon!
Inclusion
At Certain Chance we pride ourselves on always showing up, standing out, and doing our own thing and love others that can do that too. We know what it feels like to be a bit different or feel left out, so we make pieces that let you feel like your best self while looking your best too. Our clothes are fun, sexy, and a little out there and that’s exactly the point.
We want everyone to get excited to wear our pieces, especially for nights out, festivals, or those moments that call for something extra. We love individuality, quirks, and self-expression, and wanted to created a brand that fully backs that. Certain Chance is for girls who are always up for a good time and a dance, and for those who can embrace the chaos, because life’s just more fun that way.
Sustainability
At Certain Chance, we believe looking good shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet, and we are constantly aware of our impact. We like to keep things small and thoughtful: most of our pieces are created in small quantities or made 2 order, so nothing goes to waste and every piece created is sold to a loving home.
We hand-make items ourselves, personally sourcing dead-stock and vintage fabrics (Shoutout John at Fantazia Fabric Land!) and working with local printers and suppliers as a priority.
From design to production to running the business, we do almost everything ourselves keeping control, reducing waste, and making sure every piece is made with care.
Our roles
Here at Certain Chance, Eliza and Pearl do pretty much everything, and while we are looking forward to the day we expand we are happily filling each role in the business. Please see Venn diagram below x
